Aside from the crashing Not in iTunes feature, the biggest flaw with Tune Sweeper is that its database seems to lack older or out-of-print songs and tracks, or those not found in the iTunes Store.

Missing Tracks came up empty, but that didn't surprise me. It may be the Tune Sweeper database doesn't have those older songs or albums anymore, therefore doesn't have the artwork. I noticed many of the songs that came up empty were from CDs I had imported years ago that may be out of print now. Again, the program didn't find all of the missing artwork. Unfortunately, it didn't get all of my duplicate tracks. I ended up deleting more than 100 duplicate tracks.

The software let me preview the original track and the one slated for removal, just to be sure I was deleting the right ones. Duplicates scans for identical songs by track name, track number and the length of time. Tune Sweeper 4 is available for both PC and Mac computers. So when I heard about Tune Sweeper 4 from Wide Angle Software, I had high hopes. After all that moving, my iTunes library is - you guessed it - a total mess. That was two computers ago, not to mention three backup hard drives ago. For the most part, it's worked out OK, except when it comes to my iTunes music library.

True to form, I backed stuff up, stored it on this hard drive and that backup drive, and moved some of it to the new computer while keeping other stuff on the backup drives.
